The
Squaw Valley property was purchased in 2002 and the
remodel construction began in 2003. The station sits
on 10 acres in a centrally located area of the mountain
communities. Sequoia Safety began staffing the facility
on weekends in 2005. The station is designed to house
two ambulances and four personnel.
Primary
response for the Squaw Valley station is the entire
Sequoia Safety Council mountain area that includes the
communities of Squaw Valley, Dunlap, Miramonte, Badger,
Hume Lake, and the Sequoia and Kings National Parks.
The
Squaw Valley and Orange Cove ambulances are equipped
with On-Spot snow chains that can be deployed while
the unit is traveling less than 25 MPH. In adverse weather
conditions the crew is not delayed to put on snow chains,
and they can engage the chains with the flip of a switch
inside the vehicle.

First
responders for this area include the Mountain Valley
Volunteer Fire Department, California Department of
Forestry, US Forrest Service, and the National Park
Service. |
